Top Note Draws

Over at Crafters anonymous we have a Monday night online course wher we make something we havent seen with instructions given to us via the chat. This has some interesting results and makes one realise how important communication is. I have often quoted

“I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.”

I think of this so often when I am doing the online class and it makes me realise when teaching it is so important to be able to communicate so people underwstand what it is they need to do.

This Monday we made a top note die set of draws. I didn't quite get them how they were supposed to be but I loved the way they turned out and the person I gave them to will enjoy them as in each draw I put 3 jokes to make her laugh. I hope you enjoy looking at my little set of draws.

Annes Little Folded Bag

Well Anne brignal from Crafters Anonymous was our tutor again this week and we made this fabulous little bag. It is made of one single sheet of paper and it is the way it is folded that gives you the bag without having to cut into the paper. Anne had a lovely rose on hers and recently I had search to find how to make paper flowers so I thought I would put one of these flowers on the front of the bag.
From my stash of paper I found a pretty blue and coral tartan which I have always likes and then found a coral cardstock that was an excellent match. The rose is made from the StampinUp 2 step Owl Punch using the owl body and the StampinUp scalloped circle punch. The square and scalloped square are spellbinders nestabilities and the embossed background on the coral background is Divine Swirls Cuttlebug folder. I have inked the inside of the coral square with Bashful Blue ink and have inked the edge of the coral rose petals with Early Expresso and the centres with Daffodil Delight. The leaves come from the StampinUp 2 step bird punch and again I have inked the leaves with Bashful Blue to give a little depth. I used a bottle of glitter I have which I bought some years ago to add some sparkle.
I like to put my ribbon through holes and I love eyelets so I used sun and butterfly eyelets in deep blue for the ribbon to go through to make my handle.
Hope you enjoy looking at what I'm doing as much as I enjoy making things leave me a comment to let me know you've been.

60th Birthday

My Brother in law is turning 60 soon and I wanted to make 'something different' he's a real kiwi bloke so I knew it had to be very masculin oriented. Having made the star box on Crafters Anonymous I thought I would put a similar concept into being and cut out a 6 and a 0 and see if I could make a box out of the 60. Well this is what I came up with. Using the Disney Mickey Font I cut 2 6's in DSP and 2 6's in plain card stock, I did the same with the 0's. Then I decided the lid would be 1.5 iches and the bottom would be 5 cm I do swap between measurements (sorry). Then I just put them together. Well I used hide contour for the bottom pieces so they didn't cut the holes in the middle. and on the top holes I used plastic to have a see through top on the boxes. I used the Cricut Handyman Lite cartridge to cut the tools on the top, some ribbon I had in my stash and some Happy birthday stickers from a day I went to some 2 years ago.

Decorate a clipboard challenge

Another challenge from crafters anonymous. This time to make a clipboard or decorate one. Well i had a piece of board at home looking very -- "board". so I decided to bling it up with some sellotape I had left over from a few christmases ago. then I thought it would be good if I had something to hold some note paper so I have used 2 floppy disk pockets (now you know how old they sre). then the clips looked sort of sad so I used the sellotape agsin. the bird and cage (my humour) the bird has flown! they are Mariposa rubons I got on special. The owl is a cricut cutout I have had for some time and he just seemed to want to jump onto the page.

An Easter Page

Well not quite but couldn't resist the pic I took of my DGD and the layout that I had done. After doing my rabbit which I cased from Threasa Rafter's on (Crafters Anonymous) entry to monday nights class I decided to do another one in Blue to give her a friend. Then I set a challenge to download and weld a word in Cricut design studio so I thought I better do the post with what I did. I loved the bunnies so I thought I would do an Easter page. Having given the challenge for people to weld a word I thought this was a good opportunity to do just that and use it so I welded a 2.5 inch Easter but then changed my mind when I saw on the page how big it was and scaled it down to 2 inches. I also welded the 2011 which I made smaller still. Now I just have to add somewhere 'Not quite'

Punchart Bunny

I saw this little bunny on something someone had made and just couldn't resist making one. She is made of a large circle and large and small oval punches. I have inked the edges of the pink. The pads I inked in early expresso and the ears I inked in Pretty in pink. The eyes and mouth are drawn on by me and the nose is a small circle. I do think she is very cute coming up to easter.

Milk carton

Along at Crafters Anonymous we have Monday night tutorials on line where we get instructions and a photo and construct a project. Tonight we made milk cartons. Little ones. They are sooo cute. Watch for me making some more of these with different designs. I made the box but didn't know it had a right way up so ended up making it upside down. I put the layer on the front and embossed it with an owl flourish I have. Then I coloured with chalks so it is very pale. The clips at the top are paperclips which have a circle of DSP and are then covered in Crystal efects to make them glossy. There is plenty of room for a sentiment but I decided to just do some hearts instead.
