Newsletter – August 2014

Oh So Many Crafts
 Madges Creations
Stamp n Scrap

Hi All,

Do hope that you are all cosy and warm crafting in your craft rooms with this cold weather!! Oh wouldn't that be so lovely. The weather here has been quite cold, with wind, rain and  just  generally wintery – the good news is that September 1st is the first day of spring, yeh!

July was as busy as ever for us – Shirl has been organizing the Retreat – see more info later in this newsletter, Flo has been over to the Hamilton Cricut Club which is doing really great creations, Gisborne is doing well and we are tickety-booing along here in Palmerston North.

Palmerston North:
While we do not have specific ‘open hours’ for shopping  you are welcome to come when it suits you, to browse and pick up any supplies you need. Just give me a quick call to make sure I am not off picking up one of the boys.  If I do not have what you want I will do my best to find it for you.  If you want to give me a call to see if I have what you need, feel free to call me on 3533880 or 0211378157.

Our July card classes went very well with the Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday classes making ‘man’s shirt’ cards and the Thursday class making a Christmas Teddy Bear woggle card.
Shirl was at the Plaza in Palmerston North for a week of the school holidays with ‘ceramic painting’ which the children (and even adults) really love.  It was a busy time. Watch out for her in the Plaza next school holidays – great activity for the children.

2nd and 3rd August we held a Cricut Education Weekend here in Palmerston North and what a wonderful time we had.  Lots of fun and laughter and a whole heap of learning!! We even did glass etching – so cool!!!

Hamilton Cricut Craft Club group has also done glass etching with great results. This small glass bowl was etched then coloured. The Cricut was used to cut the vinyl butterflys to go onto the bowl. Watch for more pics on the blog.

Cricut News
As some of you may know there is a new Cricut machine out called the Cricut Explore. This machine can only be used if you have a high speed internet connection and does not work as a standalone machine as the other Cricut machines do. However as well as being able to cut from the Cricut cartridges linked to your account the Explore software Design Space, imports and cuts .svg, .dxf, .jpg, .gif, .png, and .bmp files and this to many people is what they want to do. If you would like to know more about the Explore contact Flo.

Feeling a bit cold over the last few days I used the Explore to make this svg file of a snowman. (Purchased from svgcuts.com) He has his outside embossed with snowflakes and he has glitter glue painted on his snowflakes to make him shine a bit. The hat is removable and the inside holds treats if you wanted him for this. All the bling came from ‘Madge’s Stash’ ssshh. But isn’t he just soo cute.
