My wonderful Son in Law Jarred's birthday was Friday an as he turned 30 they had a party. My daughter decide to tell me very late Friday night that he didn't have a cake!!!!! Could I make one and gave me the recipie for a mudcake. Now I have never made a mud cake except when I was real small and they were actually made from mud! Well she gave me a wonderful recipie that she said was a never fail one. it came complete with directions for the icing as well. So after going to town to get the ingredients I came home and 'whipped up a chocolate mud cake' actually it went really well and the cake tuened out beautiful. It actually tasted nice as well. While it was cooking I thought of the design I needed to do for Jed. A real kiwi bloke he loves hunting and fishing and although we tease him about his bambi shooting he does love his hunting. On this theme I decided to do some 3d trees deer fish and a hunter and fisherman. Well now if this was in paper it wouldn't have been so bad but having said I would do a cricut weekend and having a Cake I thought I would do it all in fondant with the Cricut Cake. Well roll out the fondant and really that went well as well as getting it on the mat. I cut the 3d trees, the deer, the hunter, the fish and the little boy fishing then left them to dry which I did think they would do fairly quickly but I hadn't bargined on the day being so hot. Well to cut a long story short I glued the trees together with sugar glue poked the deer in the mud round the trees made a lake from the blue fondant I made and put the fish in it stood the hunter by one of the trees and voila it was done! (well not quite that easy but yep it was done)

Son & Grandson birthdays in December

With a son and grandson in Canada both with birthdays in December I figured I better make them some cards. the dog is from Imagine Best Friends, the truck is from B is for Boy and the sentiments are from Birthday Bash. the scalloped ovals were cut from a die and the outlines were done in sparkle ballpoint. Stamps are from StampinUp.

4 T's that were white

My daughter lent me 4 T shirts to play with. My granddaughter is now 4 months old and I so much wanted to play with my new Cricut Imagine doing things I couldn't do on anything else. I used Better together and Straight from the nest to put these cuts onto T shirt transfer paper and this is what I have done. I just love the result and love the new Big Bug. The Crafters Anonymous Challenge I set was Something Old Something New Something Borrowed Something Blue. And 3d well T'shirts are 3d! old well Tyler is 4 months old, New oh of course that is the machine the Cricut Imaging only 3 days old, borrowed is the T-shirts and blue? well take a close look and you will see a little blue bird in the tree.

My first Imagine card and the pick on the right is the side of the envelope. This is for our ward receptionist a lovely lady who ended up in hospital.

Kelly the cake artist

I spent the weekend with my good friend and up line StampinUp Demonstrator Julia. Her daughter Kelly and I spent Sunday night playing with the cricut cake. Kelly made cupcakes and we cut decorations out of fondant on the cc. Kelly did a fantastic job of decorating the cupcakes. I had so much fun as we rolled the fondant sooo very thin and then watched as the Cricut Cake cut it out. Kelly then had the job of using the picker to pick all the tiny bits out of the butterfly wings and flowers. Kelly is awesome and has a lot of talent. I can see her getting a Cricut cake to decorate her cupcakes. My grateful thanks to Julia for putting up with me for the weekend and for letting Kelly and I loose in her kitchen.

Stampin Up Tauranga Extravaganza Christmas Cracker with a difference

As I have said already when I bring things home to do, I do them differently. This was supposed to be a christmas cracker but I ws thinking birthdays and other events so this was my take on the christmas cracker. Inside can hold chocolates, wrapped ones would be best as then it wouldn't matter if they hit the ground. The original one was in the shape of a triangle and the embossing was a flower motif pattern. Mine is round and the embossing pattern more of a crosses pattern and is from the new December mini. The edge is punched with the new mini heart punch and of course the little flowers are dimentioned to the body of the cracker. and the bird well I just love the birdie punch.

An awesome Christmas star. I learnt the pattern at Crafters Anonymous. I made it in Jolly Holly DSP and spritzed it with Gold spritz.

Top Note Photo Album-Tauranga Extravaganza

As a demonstrator at the Tauranga Extravaganza I got the projects to take home to do. This means I put my own slant on them. I noticed that when the top note die album opened the points hit each other, so I added a spine between the front and back, this is the cherry cobbler paper with the dots. I edged the sentiment with the heart edge punch which will be available in the new mini catalogue December 1st. I spritzed the front with the gold spritz which you can see well in the last photo. The pages have a pocket which can hold journaling or photos.

Napier Cakes Conference

I was privilaged to go to the NZ Sugar Art and cake conference held in Napier this last weekend. I was there in the capacity of helping out one of the trades people demonstrate the Cricut Cake machine. I thought I would just show you what some people are capable of as all these creation are made of sugar in some form.

StampinUp stamp sets

These are 2 little cards I made with sets from StampinUp. The first is "Loads of Love" and I do love the little pickup and the second is Because I care a hostess set of level one. I used the masking technique with the 2nd one with the flower and the corner and edge punch on the 1st one. Made with scraps of card and ink spot colours from SU.

Finished Haunted House

Can you see the table under the tree, the witches in the fences and the ghosts well they are easy. the grass is actually a pic of the grass outside my kitchen last May when the spiders were very busy overnight making wonderful cobwebs all over the grass.

Cards for Julia

I entered a card swap and Julia was my partner. I had to make her 3 christmnas cards. oh easy except Julia is the queen of card making so it was hard to come up with something she might say wow to. Well here they are:

this first one has 3 squares inside each other and 1/2 of each is glued to the side of the card. the left side of the outter and inner squares and the right side of the middle square. Simple it sounds- try it.

the next one is a box card. Now this is not so simple the folding is the easy when you work out how variety and of course I couldn't leave it plain so I made the inside pop out the tree pops out from the back and the snowflakes dangle and sway in the breeze.

Now the last one is simple on the outside just a corner punch around the page type of runner and the inside is a popup helf and pop out trees and of course the penguins made from punch art.

the penguins are supposed to be jumping off the land into the sea where there is an island. What a wonderful imagination I have! but that is the story behind the cards.

and yes Julia did like them!
